Arizona golf dominates the Valley of the Sun, so if you're
a player, be sure to pack your clubs. With the total number
of golf courses totaling 250+ Phoenix golf course are renowned
as some of the world's best golf destinations.
World-class golf tournaments draw champions from around
the country to contend. The Phoenix Open is one of the PGA
Tour's top events, always drawing hefty crowds. The Tradition
at Desert Mountain is the first of four major championships
on the Senior PGA Tour, and the Standard Register PING LPGA
Tour event brings champion women golfers to Phoenix to vie
for the top prize.
Arizona golf resorts are the perfect location for a getaway
from the rat race at work. Spending a weekend on a private
course could be considered a Zen like experience and with
a growing number of resorts adding private spas it may very
well be.
Like visitors, pros prefer the valley for its ideal climate,
quality and quantity of golf courses, and opportunity for
top instruction. Each is available nearly every day of the
year. In January the valley hosts The Phoenix Open at the
TPC of Scottsdale. The stadium course, built for this event,
adjoins The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess resort and attracts
the largest gallery of any tournament on the PGA Tour. A
major happening, the Phoenix Open is followed in March by
the Ping LPGA Tournament, also held in Scottsdale.
If it's your first time to Arizona and you're a golf fanatic,
you might be tempted to try driving a few golf balls to
see if you can reach the other side of the Grand Canyon.
